Assignment: London Walking Tour

Dear students,

Your assignment is to design a Walking Tour along at least 6 London monuments. It could be anything from Big Ben to the Millenium Dome. It could be monuments in walking distance of each other, but you could also include a ride in the Underground.

The presentation should be in English and should include photos and directions in English for every step of the way.

Before you read on, watch this video to refresh what you know about giving directions in English.

The Google Presentation should include:

1. At least 12 slides (dias) featuring 6 places along the route.

2. Instructions in English on how to get from one place to the next. Example: “turn right on the roundabout” of “straight ahead along Bondstreet.

3. Extra tips along the route: Example, “Close by is a great place to go shopping” or “Don’t miss the beautiful view of the “Houses of Parliament.”

4. You will have to present your presentation to the class or to a group of classmates.

Use pictures from Internet for Photos.

Variations for extra points!

• Instead of Google Presentation you can use Prezi, Powtoon or Voicethread gebruiken.

• Include stories about London and about the history of the places.

• Include a playlist of English songs to accompany your map, like London’s Calling.

• What else can you think of? Pack list, great hotels, good food, record stores, etc…
