Hello students,
You’ve just come back from working for 3 weeks at your traineeship (stage) and I’m sure you have lots to talk about. Maybe you had a great time and loved every minute of it or maybe you thought it was really boring! Either way, I want to know.
However, I don’t want you to tell me just yet. Instead, today I want you record a message of yourself talking about your traineeship. We’ll also play around with computers and practise our speaking at the same time.
The idea of today’s lesson is to make a fun computer image of yourself and record yourself as well. Just like this one I made of myself.
You will learn how to:
- Talk about your traineeship in English
- Use online software to edit a photo
- record a message using blabberize.
Before you can record your message you need to have a general idea of what you will talk about. That’s why I want you to answer these five easy questions below, so that you can use the answers in your message.
Answer the questions in English, because you will need the words later on.
PART A
Open your email and write the answers in an email and then send it to yourself. I’ve given you a hand with the answers.
1. Where did you do your traineeship and what kind of work did you do?
Answer: My traineeship was…
2. What was the funniest thing that happened during your traineeship?
Answer: The funniest thing that happened was…. because..
3. What was the weirdest thing that happened?
Answer: The weirdest thing that happened was…. because….
4: If you could do it again what would you differently and why? (KADER)
Answer: If I could do it again I would…
5: If someone asks you if they should do a traineeship in the same place, what would you tell them and why… (KADER)
Answer: If someone asked me if they should do a traineeship in the same place, I would tell them…
PART B
Now that you’ve finished writing your script, you will need to make your Avatar.
I’ll show you how to do that in the following steps.
- You need a picture: Either take a picture of yourself (with your phone) or use one from the internet.
- Now edit the picture to make it look just the way you want. You can edit it using one of these online picture editors: Blingee, Pixlr, Anymaking
Save the picture on your computer and email it to yourself as well!
- Now for the most difficult part. Using your picture to record a message. For this part you will need to use a headset with microphone – ask Ms. Beecham for one of those.
- Watch this tutorial first:
- Then go to Blabberize and register.
- Register for an account and then click on “Make”
- Upload the picture you just chose.
- Make a mouth on the picture
- Make sure you have a headset
Now you can record your message:
Open the email with the answers to the questions and record them with the microphone.
If you don’t like the way it sounds, just keep trying till you like the sound of it.
4. Now save your Blabber and the choose share: Please email me the link to your Blabber.
