Writing letters or emails is a combination of many different English skills. You need some vocabulary, some grammar, some idea about word order and to follow a few basic guidelines.

For Emails you often need to talk about the past (verleden tijd). You might write an email about a holiday you went on or a movie you saw.

Connectives
To write well you need to know how to use words like When, So, But, Because and Although. We call these words connectives because they connect sentences together.
Example:
I like singing. Other people don’t like me to sing.
- I like singing but other people don’t like me to sing.
- Although I like singing, other people don’t like me to sing.

Irregular Past Tense: Verleden Tijd (onregelmatig)
You need to learn these by heart:
I go to school – Yesterday, I went to school
I see a movie – Yesterday, I saw a movie
